Law vs. Policy
Laws and policies are very much needed, as they help in maintaining law and order in the society. A policy outlines what a government is going to do. Policies are only documents and not law, but sometimes these polices can lead to new laws. Laws are standard that must be followed in society. A policy is achieving certain goals and law is for bringing justice to the society. In Canada the law applies to everyone including the police, the government, public officials. Canadian laws recognize basic rights and freedoms such as liberty and equality.
An example of a law in Canadian Immigration is the decisions like who come to Canada and a policy is like how many immigrants we will except within a year.a example of a Canadian immigration policy could be when you are going through the immigration process, and get offer to go to a specific region within Canada that you did nit chose as a settlement choice. The office most likely offered this to you since you have skills that are needed within that area. The immigration office cannot force you to pick this region that they have offered you. If you decline, they will most likely pick another immigrant/ immigrating family to settle there, and you will be put back onto the waiting list to immigrate to Canada.
